What is RSS and why is it important?
With the increasing number of technologies used all over the web, can be difficult to track and understand all. One of the most popular of these tools is the technology known as RSS, short for Really Simple Syndication. RSS is exactly what the name sounds like, a language for syndication of web sites for easy consumption. The popularity of RSS has grown in direct proportion to the spread of blogs, podcasts and online video. RSS is an XML technology, and its purpose is to provide a means for websites to spread their content regardless of their site. An RSS feed was created by taking the contents of the site, such as an article in a blog or a podcast of mp3 files, and creating a document that is constantly updated every time the page is. This allows people to use the software, known as RSS readers, to control all their favorite sites at once.
The RSS feed is not generally intended as a substitute for your site, rather than the more common use is to scrutinize the title and synopsis of a story, and then if a player is interested in your content, simply click on title of the story and can read the rest of your site. This serves to do is eliminate the need for a list of subscribers to your side, as those who want the content can simply subscribe to the feed. Rather than having email newsletters or synopsis of the latest updates on your site, you can use RSS, and anyone who wants to read will have a chance. This is just the beginning of RSS, however, as is increasingly being used to support the union.
iTunes, probably the best known online resource for finding music is a driving force syndicating multimedia content. Any user who feels inclined can syndicate their podcasts or videos and transmit them to iTunes, where it will be viewed and downloaded by making the contents of an iPod loading process easy. iTunes is not the only way to view these files, as most RSS readers now work with MP3 files and video, depending on the format. The increasing sophistication of these files allows the advertising inserted (often you can simply click a video to be taken to an advertiser's site), then you are given the opportunity to earn more revenue from advertisers, offering their ads directly to customers.
RSS technology is becoming extremely popular, with readers currently installed in Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and more recently the Microsoft Internet Explorer, is a technology that does not seem to go anywhere. Using it correctly can help to make your blog or other site more accessible to customers, and keep them coming back for more. Syndication can replace the useless email lists and keep you informed of new product releases. Using this technology you can put your product in the daily lives of your customers, increasing the likelihood of returning to your site ....
