Business partnerships with non-profit organizations you a Win-Win Proposition

The Republic of Tea Company is working with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds for cancer research with the Sip for a Cure program.

The company has created several specialty tea flavors of tea bag just for this campaign including grapefruit, rose, pink lady apple, and lemonade. Other farm products include bottled tea and jam. A portion of revenue from all Sip for the Cure products sold are donated directly to the Komen Foundation, with nothing to mail and no response required by customers.

In recent years, the Komen Foundation has actively pursued business partnerships in order to raise funds. The type of partnerships established by the Komen may be a good lesson for other businesses and nonprofit organizations.

A collaborative program between an organization and a nonprofit organization can be beneficial for both organizations. As in the case of the Republic of Tea, and makes use of tea by an increase in sales of products with some positive PR in the process.

While the amount donated for each item may be small, the volume of sales could add up to a large donation to the foundation. In fact, for 2005, The Republic of Tea has a guaranteed minimum donation of $ 50,000 to the Komen Foundation through the SIP program for the Cure. The company has a long-term goal of $ 1 million in donations to the Komen Foundation and has contributed more than $ 420.767 from this August.

The Komen - Republic of Tea partnership demonstrates the power of corporate sponsorship programs. When non-profit partners with large companies with national distribution or points that can benefit from the volume of business that the company is already doing. The foundation receives publicity and exposure at no cost to them.

Partnerships with small local and regional firms may have similar effects when the ratio between the two groups is strong and well-structured and organized program.

When well planned, corporate - nonprofit partnerships can be a great boost for both organizations, resulting in a win-win outcome....
