Put on-line Public Relations

As the public relations person, I was suspicious of the alleged ubiquity of social media growing movement from the beginning. There is much talk of power to the people, the democratization of the media, and the need for companies and organizations to submit themselves to the people's voice no matter what, because it is just as it is now.

I'm all for a friendly relationship with customers and users of your services, but to put so much stock, and give your life in the hands of these birds platforms like Twitter and Facebook seems like a foolhardy idea to me.

I see the power of their communication tools as well as personal and corporate communication tools, but PR is more than just communicating properly and in a friendly way with people that matter to the organization. It is also to control the conversation so that the message you want to spread in the public or target audience is sent in the right direction and say the right thing.

By all means use Twitter and Facebook, and any other social sites on the Internet that you want. We are rapidly becoming an essential component of personal communications, albeit one that is more inclined to waste time and strutting for all modes of telecommunication invented. But, suddenly does not assume that signing up for a free account on these services as your organization automatically gives you a lot of free points cookies girl scouts in the eyes of the public who want to talk too.

If anything, the sheer mass of humanity of some of these sites means that you will spend too much time searching for diamonds in the rough, and even more time dealing with the misbehavior of some of the members of the audience bored in general, which often have no real interest or connection with your product or service offered.

When it comes to accepting online media as the savior of all final mali PR, I'd like to quote the old Latin: caveat emptor. Do not buy these new means of communication without being sure what you're getting into, and, above all, whether people want to talk and enjoy your adventures on the Internet.

If it is not broke, do not fix it. And even if it is not just going to work for your particular case, do not worry. Consider before making the leap, and do not forget to ask for the reason that all the most important .......
