Dragon Hunter

This is a fable written by Roger S. Schank, in his publication, "Every curriculum tells a story". I'll try to summarize it as briefly and concisely as possible, keeping the point of the story.

There was once a kingdom overrun by dragons, the inhabitants were terrified and desperate remedy this situation, decided to design a new academic curriculum and better prepare their young to fight. They formed a committee responsible for designing the curriculum of a Master of Dragons Game (MCD). This committee was composed of the wisest teachers of the best university on Earth. The curriculum planning meeting, all agreed that each of the faculties and each teacher had something important to contribute. When completed, this was the curriculum:

First Semester:

Introduction to Basic Legal Concepts Dragonblight Introduction to Photography Introduction to Anatomy Strength and Materials

Second Semester:

Dragon II Introduction to Animal Rights and Civil Liberties Introduction to Drawing Dragons Anatomy of Physics of the projectiles

All agreed that no doubt had created a great resume, but it was difficult to cover everything you need in a one-year Master, so the Master decided to expand a program of two years. It was agreed that the curriculum for the second year:

Third Semester:

Basic Negotiation Military History Introduction to Ethics Introduction to Evolutionary Biology Cartography

Fourth Semester:

Introduction to Political Science Basic Marketing Basic Finance Logistics Introduction to Computing

All stakeholders agreed that the MCD had an excellent curriculum, complete and well balanced and covered everything a student would need to know. He recruited a group of twenty students for the MCD who graduated after two years, most of them with very good grades. The young enthusiasts, the day after graduation went on the adventure of fighting dragons.

Three of them were unable to raise funds to finance his expedition and had to engage in other activities. Another five of the remaining formed a team of dragon slayers, but had many problems of coexistence and found it very difficult to work together.

The remaining twelve were more "successful." They formed three teams of four, well-financed and where relationships were good and there was a spirit of teamwork. Unfortunately, the first of these teams could never find a dragon to kill, although devoted much time to your search. Finally, they created a company that aims to train and form Dragon Hunters. The other two teams found dragons. The first attempt to reason with him, and the second attempt to attack it. Both sides were killed.

End of story

This story has several morals moral, which represent what happens in our current education. One of these is that most of what we study serves well enough, we do not apply what you learn during the study, as almost everything is theory. We learn at a university to be used, but do not learn to be entrepreneurs. However, I'd love to read your conclusions.
