Child health and safety

Child's health or safety issues we face every day. Each generation is smarter, bolder and more curious than the previous generation. This is why it is imperative that we address the issues of security and keep a sharper eye on our children.

Lately, the summer is a time of concern as the number of children drowning has reached sickening heights. Even a child who died of accidental drowning is too many and something that no parent or guardian can never fully forgive yourself. Fences and gates block around ponds have recently been implemented in the public consciousness because of these tragedies that have occurred in recent years.

Children's health or other safety concerns revolve around lead in toys that are imported from abroad. Although lead was banned from paint in toys in the U.S. since the seventies, in other countries still have no restrictions and perhaps use it for its economic value or lack of education about the danger of it. America has a responsibility to educate and perhaps help fund the countries and companies to make the transition to lead-based paint does not.

Plastic may also contain lead and is still banned from plastic toys for children. Lead actually makes plastic more flexible and more resistant to heat. But a health problem is that when the plastic is exposed to certain detergents the chemical bond between the lead and the plastic breaks down and form a powder that can be taken by inhalation and lead to respiratory infections and other afflictions incubation.

Children's health or safety issues should be at the forefront of the concerns of the country, as now we are more knowledgeable about the chemical interactions and exposed residues in certain circumstances, such as washing. For a prosperous country for health and safety of its citizens is a major concern and subject of intense alteration of production.

Do-it-yourself kits have been put on the market to test the lead. However, they do not indicate the levels of the element and as yet there has been no determination as reliable in this kit are detect low levels of lead. Only a laboratory test can accurately determine the true level of lead in paint or plastic. The laws are in place to limit the use of lead in paints and plastics.

Schoolyards have been replacing the concrete and asphalt surfaces are replaced with mulch, wood chips and sand to cushion falls and jumps out of children's swings. The safety feature is more effective adult supervision and education of children not to jump off swings or jungle gyms upper steps to prevent twisted ankles and broken legs.

For all the advances in technology, it is important that safety and health of our children move forward and evolve with the knowledge that has discovered the most important tests and statistics ....
